About KUMFA
Korean Unwed Mothers' Families Association
Founded by unwed mothers in 2009, KUMFA advocates for the rights of unwed mothers and their children in Korea. Our goal is to ensure that women have sufficient resources and support to keep and raise their babies safely so that both mother and child can thrive in Korean society.
Our Reality
In the 21st century, families come in all shapes and sizes. However, in Korea, unwed mothers and their children still face systemic and societal discrimination that prevents them from enjoying equal access to basic human rights.
KUMFA provides a safe space for these families to confidently gather together and break down deeply rooted social barriers and biases.
Our Core Activities
We hold monthly gatherings for members to share important updates and news. We also organize comprehensive support programs including psychotherapy, professional counseling, parental education, and family camps to promote self-esteem and heal family dynamics.

히터: 희망이 터지는 곳 (A Place Where One Finds Hope)
Since March 2011, KUMFA has operated an emergency living quarters shelter called "Heater". This facility provides safe, immediate housing for unwed mothers who have become estranged or isolated from family and friends due to their decision to raise their child.
